We analysed Shropshire Library Services data for the 2025/26 year and found Church Stretton library came sixth out of twenty-one libraries for the number of people visiting the library, number of active users, number of loans, number of hours of computer time used, number of enquiries answered and number of people attending events. We also have the greatest number of volunteers of any library in Shropshire!
It is highly unlikely that Church Stretton could ever improve on this, as the five libraries that came higher, Shrewsbury, Oswestry, Ludlow, Bridgnorth and Market Drayton have more than twice our population size and in Shrewsbury it is seventeen times larger.
A huge thank you is owed to the library staff – whose welcoming approach, creativity, motivation and hard work makes the library so successful.
